25 February 2017 - Stereo
We're back to bring you a sensory overload of sight and sound.
DJing we have Ryan Martin from All Caps. All Caps have been bringing it to the Glasgow club scene for years now, with a beautifully eclective mix of elecronic sounds.
Also DJing, is Sordid Sound Sytem. SSS is Stu from the legandary Green Door Studios. He creates wonderfully layered and rich electronic textures and has released a couple of really excellent records on Invisible Inc.
We will have Leatherette playing live. Last year's album, Fist and Shout, is "raw, visceral interpretation of instrumental post-punk, no wave, drone and industrial, complete with a fully immersive and foreboding gothic atmosphere". Their live performances are intense and engaging...not to be missed.
In the screening (curated by Erika Silverman) corridor we will be showing Charles Atlas's 'What I Did Last Summer'. Currently only in exhibition at The Whitney in New York, the three short, low-tech works in this compilation celebrate downtown New York nightlife at the beginning of the 1990's. Set in a New York Meat Market restaurant after hours, Butchers' Vogue features a voguing waiter and waitress, two prostitutes on the run, and a cop. In The Draglinquents, the performances of two drag queens are superimposed over cliched images and intercut with 1950's muscle-boy movies. Disco 2000 mixes footage of a crowded dance floor, homemade optical effects, and a dancing chicken.
